Your website, explained

Welcome to this walkthrough of the National Intermodal website.

We will cover everyday editing, new pages, images, news, frequently asked questions, publishing, documents, navigation, and what to do when something goes wrong.

Know where to work

Strapi is where you manage content. The website is where visitors see the result.

Open Content Manager, then choose Page for general pages, Article for news, Resource for documents, or Site for shared settings.

Precinct and Sub Page are separate areas. If you cannot find something under Page, check the type that matches the content.

The account shown has administrator access. Your own account may show fewer controls. Use your own login and ask the website administrator if a required action is missing.

Make a basic copy update

For a copy change, open Page and select the page you want. Use the search button in the entry list if needed.

In this example, What We Do has a banner block called hero Standard. Expand it and edit the headline to change the introduction.

Further down, the alternating text image block contains the body copy.

The title is the page name. The slug is part of its web address. Leave the slug unchanged for an ordinary wording update, so existing links keep pointing to the same page.

Keep formatting simple

Use short paragraphs and the editor toolbar for headings, lists, bold text and links.

When bringing text from Word, remove unnecessary formatting and check the result carefully. Give links meaningful labels, such as Download the annual report.

Click Save to keep your draft. Once the content has the required internal approval, click Publish.

Check the page on the website afterwards, including its links and a phone-sized view.

The built-in preview currently says Set up preview. The separate preview website is not proof that an unpublished draft is visible. Confirm the review and production publishing process with your website administrator.

Start a basic content page

To create a general content page, open Page and choose Create new entry.

Enter a clear title and a unique slug using lowercase words separated by hyphens. For example, Community information could use community hyphen information.

Use Page for an ordinary page. A nested page or a precinct detail may use a different content type, so follow an existing example of the same kind.

Creating a page does not automatically add it to the main navigation. We will cover navigation later.

Build the page from sections

Pages are assembled from reusable sections, called components.

For a standard banner, use Add a component to banner and follow the same banner type as a similar page.

For the main text, choose Add a component to content and select body Copy. If you need an image alongside the text, choose alternating Text Image.

Fill in the visible text and image fields. Use the drag handle to put sections in the right order.

Keep spacing, colour and layout settings consistent with an approved page. Save the draft, review it, and publish only when it is ready.

Choose the right image

Use the existing image as your starting point. The What We Do banner is a wide Web P image, measuring three thousand six hundred and thirty-two by fourteen hundred pixels, at two hundred and sixty-four kilobytes.

That is an observed example, not a mandatory specification for every image.

Match the shape of the image you are replacing. Keep important faces, text and logos away from the edges because the website may crop differently on a phone.

The banner also has vertical and horizontal image origin settings. Check the crop on the website after making a change.

Useful image starting points

As practical starting points, prepare a wide banner at about twenty-four hundred by nine hundred and twenty-five pixels, and a landscape news image at about sixteen hundred by nine hundred.

For social sharing, twelve hundred by six hundred and thirty pixels is a useful starting point.

These are recommendations, not confirmed limits or crop requirements. Match the existing component and review the result.

Use Web P or a well-compressed JPEG for photographs. Aim for roughly two hundred to five hundred kilobytes where the image still looks good.

Keep the original file separately, avoid enlarging a small image, and add useful alternative text describing meaningful visual content.

Update a news article

For news, open Article and select the story. Update the title, feature image and main content as needed.

The date field is the article date. It is not a scheduling control. The screenshot displays dates in month, day, year order, so check the selected calendar date carefully.

Use the existing tags where appropriate, and leave the slug unchanged for routine updates.

Save, obtain approval, publish, then check both the news listing and the article itself.

Community news has its own collection, labelled Comunity News in this setup. Choose the correct collection before editing.

Add an FAQ accordion

To add frequently asked questions, open the page and choose Add a component to content.

Select the component labelled accordian. That is the spelling used in this CMS.

Under items, click No entry yet, click to add one. Put the question in heading and the answer in content.

Choose Add an entry for each additional question. Use the item drag handles to reorder the questions, or the component drag handle to move the whole FAQ section.

Save and review, then publish. On the website, open and close each question and check any links inside the answers.

Save a draft or plan a release

Save and Publish do different jobs. Save stores the editable draft. Publish makes that version available to the connected website.

For an already published entry, draft changes can wait while the published version remains available.

No Releases menu or scheduling action was visible in the account inspected for this guide. Do not assume a future article date will publish the story automatically.

For now, save the draft and agree who will publish it, at what time, and in which time zone.

If automatic scheduling is needed, ask the website administrator to confirm and configure a supported workflow before relying on it.

Replace a document carefully

For a replacement document, open Resource and select the existing record. Keep its slug unchanged.

On the document field, click Edit. Before replacing anything, use Download to keep a backup, and Copy link to record the current file address.

Use Replace Media to select the approved replacement of the same file type, then complete the upload flow shown.

This is a shared media change and may affect every page using that asset immediately. Do not assume it waits for the resource draft to be published.

The replacement control is available, but URL preservation was not tested here. Open the old copied address and the website download link to confirm both return the new document.

Protect existing document links

A website page address and a direct PDF address are different links. Keeping a resource slug does not by itself protect a PDF link that has already been emailed.

Do not delete the old file and upload a new one as a shortcut. A new upload can receive a different address.

If the old address stops working or still shows the wrong file, ask web support to check the storage address, caching and any required redirect.

A redirect on the website may not control a separate file-storage domain.

For a new annual report year, create a new resource rather than overwriting a historically distinct report.

Recover an earlier version

If a change has not been saved, you can leave the page and discard the unsaved edits.

If a published page has a changed draft, More document actions may offer Discard changes. Review that choice carefully: it discards draft changes, not an earlier published version.

No content-history control was visible in the account inspected.

For an error already published, contact the website administrator with the page address and the last known correct content. They can arrange a targeted recovery from approved copy or an available backup.

If Content History is enabled later, restoring a version returns it to the draft for review and publication. Do not unpublish a page simply to undo a typo.

Change the global navigation

The global menu is managed in Site, under main Nav Menu.

Expand a category such as About. Category Name controls the top-level label. Category Page or Category URL controls that category destination.

For a link inside the dropdown, expand nav Items and open the item. Change name to update the label, or select the intended published page to change its destination.

Use the URL field for a link that needs a web address. Follow the existing pattern and avoid conflicting destinations.

Save and publish the Site entry when approved. Check the desktop and mobile menus. The footer has its own footer Nav Menu, so update it separately if required.

Basic search-friendly content

This section is basic content housekeeping, not an SEO or search advertising service.

On a page or article, open seo, or add the entry if it is empty.

The current fields allow a meta Title up to sixty characters and a meta Description between fifty and one hundred and sixty characters. Write a clear, unique title and an accurate summary.

Use descriptive headings, useful links and meaningful image descriptions. Avoid repeating keywords unnaturally.

Leave settings such as meta Robots, canonical URL and structured data to the website administrator. Incorrect values can affect whether the page appears in search.

Check the published result; filling a field does not guarantee a particular search ranking or Google snippet.

Google Analytics handover

Google Analytics will be installed and your team will receive access to its interface.

For reports, report scheduling and other analytics tasks, use Google's own help guides. Links are included with this walkthrough.

This video does not cover building or scheduling reports, and it does not assume analytics is already configured in the preview.

Analytics access is separate from your Strapi login.

Report an incident clearly

If something goes wrong, stop making further changes until you understand the issue.

Record the affected page address, the time, what you expected, what happened, and a screenshot. Include whether visitors are affected and whether the issue is on preview or production.

For a wording or approval issue, contact the internal website owner. For an outage, broken navigation or a security concern, escalate to the nominated IT and web support contacts promptly.

Keep one person responsible for updates and verify the affected page after the fix.

The named contacts, after-hours channel and response targets have not been supplied. This is a suggested process that your team needs to confirm.

Your final publishing check

Before you finish, confirm you edited the correct entry, kept existing addresses where appropriate, and used approved wording and images.

Check links, downloads and any accordion items. Follow your internal approval process, publish, and verify the result on the intended website.

If the change does not appear, record the details and ask web support to check the publishing connection and refresh process. Avoid repeatedly publishing or creating duplicates.

You can return to any chapter from the companion player, and use the transcript as a quick reference.
